Bajor is the seventh planet (7/14) in the Bajor system. It is the homeworld of one of the oldest species in the Alpha Quadrant, the Bajorans. In the past, Bajor and his colonies were attacked and annexed by a warlike species of Cardassians who occupied the planet for many years, until the United Federation of Planets, which liberated the planet, protected the planet after the war and sought to make Bajor one of the Federation's member worlds. Bajor has a similar atmosphere and gravity as the earth, the surface covers 68% of water and has 5 months. In 2369, the only known stable wormhole was discovered near Bajor, leading to the Gamma Quadrant 70,000 ly.
