According to Kovich, who lets Dr. Culber in on the problems of interdimensional travel, there is no cure for former Emperor Georgiou, who has traveled both to another time and another universe and therefore increasingly loses cohesion. Culber is not content with this assessment and asks the Discovery's computer for possible help. The computer, which has accumulated the Sphere data, suggests that there is a small chance of success on the planet Dannus V, but without giving any details. Although Saru disapproves of the mission because of the needs of the many in light of the threat posed by the Emerald Chain, Admiral Vance complies with Burnham's wish to take Georgiou to that planet. In the meantime, Stamets and Adira have completed the decoding of the embedded message from the Verubin nebula. It dates back to the time just before the Burn and comes from the Kelpien Starfleet vessel KSF Khi'eth. On Dannus V, Burnham and Georgiou walk through an ice desert. Suddenly, a door appears, along with a man named Carl who is reading about Philippa Georgiou's death in tomorrow's newspaper. Georgiou steps through the door and finds herself on the ISS Discovery, back in the 22nd century of her universe. It is the day of the christening ceremony of the imperial flagship ISS Charon, the day when Lorca betrayed her with the help of Michael Burnham. Georgiou notices that Saru is among her servants, and she spares his life so he can spy for her. As the christening ceremony ensues, Georgiou unexpectedly kills Stamets for conspiring with Lorca and Burnham. But she decides to spare Michael Burnham...
