Hviezdny dátum 41636.9: Riker, Deanna, Tasha a Data sa prenesú na matriarchálnu planétu Angel One v nádeji, že nájdu preživších z nákladnej lode S.S. Odin, ktorá je nezvestná už sedem rokov. Výsadkový tím sa čoskoro dozvie, že skutočne existujú štyria muži, ktorí prežili. Sú nevítaní, pretože si nepotrpia na zákony a zvyky planéty, že muži sú menejcenní ako ženy. Senzory Enterprise lokalizujú skupinu, ktorú vedie muž menom Ramsey. Muži z nákladnej lode sú teraz ženatí s rezidentmi a odmietajú odísť. Beata, vodkyňa planéty, tiež dokáže nájsť odporcov, keď sleduje Ariel, ďalšiu vysokopostavenú ženu, ktorá je tajne vydatá za Ramseyho. Teraz sú všetci splatní na popravu. Výsadkový tím nemôže očakávať ďalšiu podporu od Enterprise, pretože sa tam šíri vírusová infekcia a navyše loď je potrebná na to, aby reagovala na nahromadenie romulanské flotily v Neutrálnej zóne. Stardate 41636.9: Riker, Deanna, Tasha and Data beam down on the matriarchal planet Angel One in the hope of finding survivors from the freighter S.S. Odin that has been missing for seven years. The away team soon learns that there are indeed four male survivors. They are unwelcome because they don't put up with the planet's laws and customs that men are inferior to women. The Enterprise's sensors locate the group that is led by a man named Ramsey. The men from the freighter are now married to resident women and refuse to leave. Beata, the leader of the planet, too manages to find the dissenters when she follows Ariel, another high-ranking woman who is secretly married to Ramsey. Now they are all due for execution. The away team can't expect further support from the Enterprise because a virus infection is spreading there and, moreover, the ship is needed to respond to a Romulan fleet build-up in the Neutral Zone. Riker eventually manages to convince Beata to forgo the execution.
