Hviezdny dátum 50518.6: Keď sa Janeway a Chakotay blížia k planéte, ich raketoplán havaruje a sú zabití Vidiianmi. Zrazu sa ocitnú späť v raketopláne na ceste k planéte a zažijú déja vu. Tentoraz zmenia kurz, ale narazia na vidianske plavidlo a sú opäť zabití. V ďalšom cykle sa dve vidianske lode pripravujú na útok a zmiznú, keď Janeway aktivuje výbuch tachyónu. Späť na Voyageri si však Chakotay nepamätá žiadnych Vidiianov. Okrem toho sa Janeway nakazila fágom Vidiian, na ktorý doktor nedokáže nájsť liek a nevidí iné riešenie ako eutanáziu. Janeway sa opäť ocitá na raketopláne a tentoraz raketoplán zničí časová anomália. Potom sa Janeway znova objaví na mieste havárie prvého cyklu a sleduje, ako sa ju Chakotay pokúša oživiť. Po jej "smrti" späť na lodi nemôže interagovať so svojím prostredím, ale môže dať Kes predstavu o svojej prítomnosti. Objaví sa „duch“ Janewayovho otca, ktorý jej hovorí, že je mŕtva a že ju musí pustiť. Ale Janewayová ešte nechce odísť a na jeho pokusy prinútiť ju, aby sa k nemu pridala, reaguje s rastúcou nedôverou. Jej „otec“ je v skutočnosti prejavom mimozemskej bytosti v jej mozgu, zatiaľ čo Janeway je po havárii raketoplánu stále na planéte. Zotavuje sa po úspešnom boji proti mimozemskému votrelcovi.

Stardate 50518.6: As Janeway and Chakotay are approaching a planet, their shuttle crashes and they are killed by Vidiians. Suddenly they find themselves back in the shuttle on the way to the planet, and experience a déja vu. This time they change course, but they run into a Vidiian vessel and are killed again. In the next cycle, two Vidiian ships prepare to attack and vanish when Janeway activates a tachyon burst. Back on Voyager, however, Chakotay doesn't remember any Vidiians. Moreover, Janeway has contracted the Vidiian phage, for which the Doctor fails to find a cure and sees no other solution but euthanasia. Janeway finds herself on the shuttle yet again, and this time a temporal anomaly destroys the shuttle. Next, Janeway reappears at the crash site of the first cycle, watching as Chakotay tries to revive her. After her "death" back on the ship, she can't interact with her environment but can give Kes an idea of her presence. The "ghost" of Janeway's father appears, telling her that she is dead and that she has to let go. But Janeway doesn't want to leave yet and reacts on his attempts to make her join him with growing distrust. Her "father" is actually the manifestation of an alien being in her brain, while Janeway is still on the planet after the shuttle crash. She recovers after her successful fight against the alien intruder.
