Tiež trvala na tom, že nechá androida za sebou, keď ona a Soong utiekli z Omicron Theta, všetko kvôli obavám, že by sa mohol stať zlým Lorem. Na Atrea IV je jej manžel zranený v plazmovej jaskyni. Keď sa tam k nej pripojí Data, nestabilita ich prinúti skočiť z útesu a jej ruka je oddelená, čo potvrdzuje jeho odhad, že je android. Keď Soongova skutočná žena zomrela, implantoval jej pamäť do tohto nového tela, ktoré napodobňuje ľudské funkcie oveľa dokonalejšie ako Dataove, takže ani samotná Juliana netuší, že je android. Stardate 47410.2: While the Enterprise is helping in reheating the cooling magma core of Atrea IV, Juliana Tainer, married to one of the participating scientists, introduces herself as Noonien Soong's ex-wife and, in a manner of speaking, Data's mother. When pressed, she tearfully admits that she was against Data's creation in the first place. She also insisted on leaving the android behind when she and Soong fled from Omicron Theta, all because of fears he could become like evil Lore. On Atrea IV her husband is injured in a plasma cave. When Data joins her there, the instability forces them to jump from a cliff and her arm is severed, confirming his guess that she is an android. When Soong's real wife died, he implanted her memory into this new body, which imitates the human functions much more perfectly than Data's, so that even Juliana herself has no idea that she is an android. Data decides not to tell Juliana about her true nature.
