Hviezdny dátum 47304.2: Enterprise navštívi Kesprytt, pretože Kes, na rozdiel od ich údajne xenofóbnych susedov na planéte, Prytt, požiadali o členstvo vo Federácii. Keď sa Picard a Beverly prenesú dole, transportný lúč sa presmeruje a Prytt ich vezme do zajatia. Podarí sa im utiecť s pomocou agenta Kes, no zistia, že sú spolu telepaticky prepojení, takže Beverly zistí, že Picard bol do nej zamilovaný, keď bola ešte vydatá za Jacka Crushera. Na Enterprise Kes nainštalovali bezpečnostnú kanceláriu a ich správanie sa čoskoro stane rovnako paranoidným ako správanie ich zaprisahaných nepriateľov. Stardate 47304.2: The Enterprise visits Kesprytt because the Kes, unlike their purportedly xenophobic neighbors on the planet, the Prytt, have applied for Federation membership. When Picard and Beverly beam down, the transporter beam is redirected and they are taken prisoners by the Prytt. They manage to escape with the help of a Kes agent, but they discover that they are telepathically linked to each other, so that Beverly learns that Picard was in love with to her when she was still married to Jack Crusher. On the Enterprise the Kes have installed a security office, and their behavior soon becomes as paranoid as that of their sworn enemies. Riker finally tells them to leave, but not before beaming up a representative of the Prytt to finally get them to talk. He tells the Kes that the United Federation of Planets will definitely turn down their application. After reaching the Kes border, Picard and Beverly can finally be beamed up again.
