Romulus is the center of the Romulan Empire, and home to the Romulans. All important institutions of this state are located here. The Romulans arrived on the planet, which was most likely uninhabited, after their pilgrimage from Vulcan, which began around 400 AD. It became their new home world and later the center of an empire made up of other colonized planets, the so-called Romulan Star Empire. Together with the neighboring planet, Remem, they are often called sister planets. Most likely, these are binary planets that revolve around a common center of gravity of the system, similar to the Earth and the Moon. Romulus and Remus are the names given to humans by both planets, species, and the entire empire.
