Earth is the third planet in the Sol or Sun system, originally the only inhabited. One moon called the Moon or Luna orbits it. The Earth has become the center of the vast cosmic United Federation of Planets. The official first contact of humans from the Earth with the aliens took place in 2064. The planet has a mild climate and atmosphere, the surface is covered by 70.8% water, the mainland consists of five main continents and islands. The planet is home to the Federation government, Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy, among others.
