Betazed is the fifth planet in the Betazed system (5/8) and is the home world of the telepathic species of Betazoids. Betazed has been a major member of the United Federation of Planets since 2363. The planet has a temperate climate and the same gravity as Earth, water covers 78% of the planet's surface, and civilization is concentrated on several continents. Every two years, Betazed hosts an important Business Conference and houses the University of Betazed. The planet is ruled by a matriarchy, and the first woman in the richest family always takes over.
